The “D” stands for Denison.Markert is a curator, writer, and editor from and based in New York. She holds a BA from Johns Hopkins University and received her MA in Curatorial Practice from California College of the Arts in 2021.&#38;nbsp;From 2014 to 2019, Markert worked at Sotheby’s, rising from Client Liaison to Manager of Global Communications during her five-year tenure in the Preferred Programme. Markert has held curatorial and research positions with various for- and non-profit arts organizations, including 

 the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts (San Francisco), 


FOR-SITE Foundation (San Francisco), 

Susan Sheehan Gallery (New York), and 

The Jewish Museum (New York). She has also helped design strategic plans for museums around the globe and, in Spring 2022, participated in the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Young Curators Residency Programme in Madrid. Markert is currently the curatorial associate at Dia Art Foundation (New York/Beacon).Markert’s curatorial practice centers on concepts of legacy, preservation, and memory, exploring whose stories have been left out of the canon of art and popular history and how institutions and artists can try to reconcile those gaps. This often manifests in site-responsive projects, where the lines between art history, a place’s history, and social history blur. 

Her current research focuses on post-war painting and artist groups in New York City, especially those engaged with feminist discourse. 


  Additionally, she has a general interest in all things books and extensive knowledge of rare books
&#38;amp; manuscripts. Her undergraduate work focused on early modern British history and literature.
